What happened?
Confidential. No obligation. Nothing is signed before a written assessment.

Whatever happened, start by understanding it.

Each guide explains how the scam works, where the money goes, the warning signs, and what can realistically be done — so you can decide before you speak to anyone.

Every transaction leaves a trail. We follow it.

Blockchains are public. Our analysts map how your funds moved and where they landed — usually a regulated exchange that can be asked, or ordered, to freeze them. Then we pursue the routes most likely to bring money back.

  1. Free case review

Tell us what happened. A specialist reviews your case and tells you honestly whether we can help.

  2. Investigation & tracing

Our investigators gather the evidence and our analysts trace the funds to the exchanges and services involved.

  3. Recovery action

Complaints and escalations to banks and exchanges, freeze requests, and — with partner lawyers — court orders where needed.

  4. You get paid first

If money is recovered, it goes to you and our agreed success fee is deducted. If nothing is recovered, you pay nothing.

We don't promise timelines or outcomes. Recovery depends on where the funds went, how quickly action is taken, and decisions by banks, exchanges and courts.

Four ways money comes back.

There is no single 'refund button' for crypto fraud in Canada. We look at your case and pursue the routes that fit it — often more than one at the same time.

  1. Bank & card complaints

If you paid by card or bank transfer to buy the crypto, a chargeback or formal complaint may be possible — and can be escalated to the bank's external ombudsman.

  2. Exchange freezes

When funds reach a regulated exchange, a well-evidenced tracing report can lead it to freeze the account and preserve the money.

  3. Platform & issuer action

Complaints to the platforms involved, and requests to stablecoin issuers that can freeze tokens at a specific address.

  4. Legal action

Where court orders are needed — to identify account holders or freeze assets — independent partner lawyers act for you, using our investigation.

We are not a law firm. Where legal action is needed, independent lawyers act directly for you.

Questions people ask first

Prefer to talk first? Our Canadian team answers in English or French, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. Pacific Time (BC).+1 819-714-0789
Is it really no win, no fee?

Yes. The case review is free, there are no upfront costs, and investigation and tracing are included. If we recover money for you, our success fee — agreed in writing before we start — comes out of what is recovered. If nothing is recovered, you pay nothing. Our success fee is 10% of the amount returned to you, plus applicable taxes, and any partner lawyer is paid out of that 10%.

Are you a law firm?

No. LastResorty is a fraud recovery company: our investigators, fraud researchers and blockchain analysts do the work of tracing funds and pursuing recovery through banks, exchanges and complaint processes. We don't give legal advice.

When a case needs court action, we work closely with independent Canadian lawyers. They act directly for you, under their own professional rules, and you will know who they are and what they charge before you sign anything.

Can you guarantee I will get my money back?

No, and nobody honest can. Whether funds can be recovered depends on where they went, whether an exchange holds them, and how quickly action is taken.

Be very careful with anyone who promises a recovery rate or a timeframe. That is one of the most common signs of a recovery scam.

How do I know you are genuine and not another recovery scam?

Check our company in the official business registry using the link on our Verify us page, and call us only on the number listed there. Expect email only from our own domain.

We never contact people first about a loss, never ask for your recovery phrase or private keys, and never ask for any payment upfront — let alone in crypto or gift cards.

What information should I have ready?

Whatever you have: transaction IDs (hashes), wallet addresses you sent to, the name and website of the platform, screenshots of chats and of the platform, exchange statements, and your police or CAFC report number.

Never send us your recovery phrase, private keys or passwords. We do not need them.

Should I report to the police first?

Yes. Report to your local police and to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (CAFC) as soon as you can. A report number helps exchanges and courts take your case seriously, and you don't need anyone's help — or to pay anyone — to make it.

Tell us what happened. We'll tell you honestly if we can help.

Free, confidential, no win, no fee — in English or French.
